Port Dinorwic Harbour Lifting Bridge, North Wales

The historic lifting bridge at Port Dinorwic Harbour is owned and operated by The Marine Group, Cardiff who run the Port Dinorwic Marina. John has carried out an assessment of the condition and design of this historic structure which was constructed in 1904 as part of the development of the harbour to export Welsh slate across the world.

It currently provide vehicular access across the harbour into a mixed residential and hotel development. The bridge has suffered extensive corrosion and damage and we have drawn up a four stage improvement scheme to ensure the bridge continues to be in operation at all times whilst being refurbished. The assessment has been carried out using basic engineering principles since there are no designs or drawings available.
